Seven categories. Forty-seven answers. If your question isn't here, ask — we'll add it. The whole point of this page is that nothing about our eggs, our farm, or our service should ever feel like a black box.
The questions on this page didn't come from a marketing brainstorm. They came from actual customers over five years — via WhatsApp, email, phone calls, farm visits, and reviews. Every time a question was asked more than once or twice, we added it here. The result is the most comprehensive FAQ for premium eggs in India that we know of.
Use the category bar above to jump straight to what you need. Each section opens with the most-asked question already expanded; the rest collapse for easy scanning. If something here is unclear, contradictory, or just wrong — let us know. We update this page roughly once a month.
Breeds, feed, quality, freshness, and what makes our eggs different from supermarket ones.
Three core differences. First, our hens are genuinely free-range on 5 acres of pasture, not caged or barn-raised. Second, our feed is NPOP-certified organic with zero antibiotics, hormones, or synthetic colourants. Third, every batch is independently lab-tested with results published publicly. Most supermarket eggs come from caged hens fed industrial feed, sit on shelves for 10–30 days, and have no public lab verification.
Yes. We hold an active NPOP (National Programme for Organic Production) certificate, audited annually by APEDA-accredited body OneCert International. NPOP is equivalent to USDA Organic and EU Organic under bilateral agreements. Our certificate number is printed on every carton; you can verify it on the APEDA website at apeda.gov.in/npop.
Brown eggs (Estate Brown) come from Rhode Island Red hens — slightly larger, deep amber yolks, perfect for everyday cooking. White eggs (Pearl White) come from Heritage Leghorn hens — more delicate flavour, ideal for baking. Omega Reserve are our premium eggs from a flax-enriched feed flock — 612 mg of Omega-3 per egg (3× normal), recommended for pregnant women, kids, and athletes.
Our eggs reach you within 48 hours of being laid (under 36 hours for NCR). Refrigerated at 4–10°C, they stay fresh for 21–28 days from the lay date printed on the carton. The shell has a natural protective coating (the bloom) that we don't wash off, which keeps the egg fresher significantly longer than commercially washed eggs.
No, deliberately. The eggshell has a natural antimicrobial coating called the cuticle or "bloom" that the hen deposits as she lays. Washing removes this protective layer, which is why washed eggs (the US standard) require constant refrigeration and have shorter shelf lives. Our unwashed eggs follow the European standard, lasting longer and staying fresher. We do dry-clean any externally dirty eggs with a soft brush before packing.
Yes, by Indian classification standards. Our eggs are unfertilised — there is no rooster in our laying flock — which means they cannot develop into chicks regardless of incubation. Indian dietary tradition classifies unfertilised eggs as suitable for ovo-vegetarians. We do not market them as 'pure vegetarian' (a term reserved for plant-only foods) but they are accepted by most ovo-vegetarian and Jain dietary frameworks.
Zero of either. Growth hormones are illegal in poultry production in India and have been since 2006. Antibiotics are commonly misused in commercial poultry but absent from our operation entirely — confirmed by monthly NABL-accredited 16-compound antibiotic residue panel testing. If a hen needs antibiotic treatment for illness, she's removed from the laying flock for the full withdrawal period.
Two reasons. First, our hens forage on actual pasture and eat real plant matter — leafy greens, insects, marigold petals — which deposits natural carotenoids in the yolk. Second, our feed includes dried marigold petals (5% of the mix) and turmeric (3%), both natural sources of yolk pigmentation. Most commercial eggs use synthetic xanthophylls (often the dye 'canthaxanthin') to fake this colour. Ours is real.
Yes — and many of our most loyal customers are exactly these families. Our eggs are FSSAI-certified for direct consumption, antibiotic-free, hormone-free, and tested monthly for Salmonella (always absent), heavy metals, and pesticide residues. Many gynaecologists in Delhi-NCR recommend our Omega Reserve specifically for pregnancy because of the 612 mg Omega-3 content. Always consult your doctor for specific dietary plans.

Yes. The moment your order is dispatched, you receive an SMS and WhatsApp message with a live tracking link. The link shows the courier partner, vehicle number, current GPS location, and estimated time of arrival, updating every 60 seconds. Driver phone number is also shared for direct coordination on final-mile delivery.
Three options. The driver can leave the package with a neighbour or your building security if you authorise this in advance. We can re-attempt delivery the next day at no extra cost. Or you can pick up from our nearest hub (NCR has one in Gurugram). Eggs in our cold-chain insulation stay fresh for 24+ hours in case of delivery delays.
We currently offer broad delivery windows (morning 8 AM–12 PM, evening 4 PM–8 PM) but not exact-hour slots, because cold-chain logistics doesn't support that flexibility yet. Subscribers can specify a preferred window during checkout. For Delhi-NCR, we're piloting a 'narrow window' service (specific 2-hour slots) — ask via WhatsApp if you'd like to be added to the early-access list.
How the subscription works, pausing, switching, cancelling, and the perks subscribers get.
Pick a frequency (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly), a pack size, and a delivery slot. We auto-dispatch on your schedule, you save 10% off list price, get free delivery and free replacement of any cracked eggs without a 24-hour deadline, and lock today's price for 12 months. Skip or pause anytime via WhatsApp. Cancel with one message, no contracts, no minimum tenure.
Yes, anytime. WhatsApp us with the change request — switching from Estate Brown to Omega Reserve, or mixing two types in your weekly order, or changing pack size — we apply the change from your next dispatch. There's no fee, no waiting period, no annoying retention questions. Most subscribers switch types at least once over the course of their subscription.
Yes, easily. Send us a WhatsApp message with your pause window (a date range or 'until I tell you'), and we hold all dispatches. When you're back, message us to resume. We'll restart from your next scheduled date. No fees, no minimum pause length, no awkward calls. Some of our subscribers pause for 4–6 weeks during summer holidays — we welcome it.
One WhatsApp message: "Please cancel my subscription." That's it. No retention pitch, no exit form, no requesting a phone call. Cancellation is processed within 24 hours, your last dispatch is processed normally, and any pending refund (for paused/skipped weeks) is sent to your original payment method within 5 working days.
Yes. 10% off list price, free delivery on every order, free replacement of cracked eggs without the 24-hour reporting deadline, locked-in pricing for 12 months (no surprise hikes), early access to new product launches, monthly recipe newsletters, and an annual farm-visit invitation if you're a 12+ month subscriber.
There isn't one. You can subscribe and cancel after the first delivery if it doesn't suit you. We don't lock you in. The 10% subscriber discount applies from delivery one, regardless of how long you stay. About 87% of subscribers continue past six months voluntarily; we believe that's because of the product, not because of contract handcuffs.
For restaurants, hotels, caterers, corporate gifting, and large recurring orders.
Yes — this is a meaningful part of our business. We currently supply 53 restaurants, hotels, and cloud kitchens across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Bulk pricing kicks in at 30 trays per week (900 eggs) with progressive discounts at 100 trays, 250 trays, and 500+ trays per week. WhatsApp our B2B desk at +91 90917 92917 for a custom quote.
For B2B (restaurants, hotels, caterers, institutional), minimum order is 30 trays (900 eggs) per week with weekly invoicing. For one-off bulk events (weddings, corporate parties), minimum is 50 trays (1,500 eggs) with 7-day advance booking. We can occasionally accommodate smaller events on short notice — call to check.
Yes, for orders above 500 trays per dispatch. We can custom-print your hotel or restaurant logo on the moulded-pulp carton (additional ₹6/carton, minimum 500 cartons). For luxury hotels and gifting partners, we offer premium custom-printed cartons with foil stamping. Lead time is 2–3 weeks for first order. Subsequent orders ship from the printed inventory.
Standard terms are 7-day credit for the first 8 weeks of supply (helps establish trust), then up to 21-day credit for established customers based on volume and history. We offer 1.5% early-payment discount for invoices settled within 7 days of dispatch. For very large clients (1,000+ trays/week), we can structure longer credit on request.
Yes — for serious B2B inquiries, we send a complimentary sample tray (free for the first one to verified businesses) along with a copy of our latest lab report and certifications. Many chefs ask for 2-3 sample trays across our three product lines (Estate Brown, Pearl White, Omega Reserve) before deciding which suits their menu. Email b2b@sahyaagro.com with your business details to start.
Booking, getting there, what to expect, kid-friendliness, and group tours.
Absolutely yes. We welcome visitors on Saturdays year-round, and selected Sundays from October to March (the cooler months). A typical 2–3 hour visit includes a pasture walk, the grading and packing rooms, the cold-chain area, and chai with our team. Children love seeing the hens. Photography is welcome. Email visits@sahyaagro.com or WhatsApp us with preferred date and group size.
Saloni Village, Mahendragarh district, Haryana. About 145 km from Delhi (3-hour drive via NH48 and NH148B), 200 km from Gurugram, 180 km from Jaipur. Nearest railway station is Narnaul (12 km), nearest airport is Delhi (T3). We can arrange a pickup from Narnaul station with 24-hour notice. We share a Google Maps pin and parking instructions when you confirm a visit.
Entry is free. We charge ₹250 per adult and ₹150 per child for a homemade lunch at the farm if you'd like — pure vegetarian, made from village produce, served traditional thali style. Lunch is optional but most visitors stay for it. We also have a small farm shop with eggs, gud, mustard oil, and seasonal produce that visitors can buy at farm-direct prices.
Please do — we love hosting young visitors. The pasture walk, hand-feeding chickens, and seeing fresh-laid eggs being collected are highlights for most kids. Younger children should be supervised around the hens (they get curious and the hens get protective). We have a small playground area near the farm office and clean toilets. Snacks for kids available on request.
Yes, regularly. School groups of 20–50 students get a guided 90-minute educational tour covering hen lifecycle, organic farming, food safety, and sustainable agriculture. Lunch can be arranged at ₹180/head for groups. Email education@sahyaagro.com 2-3 weeks in advance with group size, age range, and preferred dates.
Cracked eggs, refunds, taste preferences, lab report mismatches, and reporting timelines.
We replace the entire affected tray for free or refund the order in full, your choice. WhatsApp us a photo within 24 hours of receipt (subscribers don't have a deadline). No interrogation, no proof of purchase needed beyond your order number. Replacement ships next dispatch cycle (1–3 days). We've processed about 340 such replacements over two years — a rate under 0.3%.
Full refund within 24 hours of receipt for any quality issue (cracked, dirty, off-smelling, etc.) — no deduction, no questions. Refunds processed to your original payment method within 5 working days. For subscription cancellations mid-cycle, we refund any unused weeks pro-rata. For Gulf shipments, we offer the same policy with a 48-hour reporting window to account for international transit.
Honestly — yes, even for taste preferences. We don't believe in fighting customers over a few hundred rupees. If you tried our eggs and didn't enjoy them for any reason, message us within 7 days of receipt and we'll refund or replace with a different egg type. We'd rather you find what works for you, even if that's a different product than ours.
This is exactly why we batch-stamp every carton. WhatsApp us your carton's batch number and we send the corresponding NABL lab report PDF within hours. If the lab number is below our committed 600 mg threshold (extremely rare — last time was May 2023), we proactively offer a free replacement carton or refund. We've published our policy on this in detail on the Lab Reports page.
24 hours for one-time orders (we need to verify in cold-chain logs that the issue was upstream, not from delayed home storage). For subscribers, we don't enforce this deadline — trust runs both ways. Gulf customers have 48 hours given international transit. Beyond these windows, we'll still try to help, just with a slightly more cautious approach.
Protein, daily intake, comparison with regular eggs, special diets, and storage.
Yes, but in line with eggs broadly. A standard 60g Sahya Agro egg contains 7.2 grams of high-quality complete protein with a perfect amino acid score. The protein quality is identical to commercial eggs. What's higher in our eggs is everything else — Omega-3, Vitamin D, B12, choline, and carotenoids — owing to the natural diet.
For most healthy adults, 2–3 eggs per day is well within healthy limits, supported by recent cardiology research. The dietary cholesterol concern that dominated 1990s nutrition advice has been substantially revised — your liver makes most of its own cholesterol. For specific medical conditions (diabetes, lipid disorders), consult your physician for personalised guidance.
Several measurable differences: higher Omega-3 (3–4× higher in our pasture-raised eggs), higher Vitamin D (about 3× higher due to outdoor sunlight exposure), higher Vitamin E and carotenoids (from foraging on real plant matter), lower antibiotic residue concerns (zero in our case), and arguably better Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio. Whether these add up to meaningful long-term health differences is an active research area; the directional case for organic is strong.
Excellent fit. Eggs are nearly zero-carb, high-protein, high-healthy-fat, and very satiating — making them a staple of most low-carb and ketogenic diets. Two of our eggs at breakfast deliver 14g of complete protein for under 170 calories. The Omega-3 content of our pasture-raised and Omega Reserve eggs adds a meaningful anti-inflammatory benefit valued in active or fitness-focused diets.
We are not doctors and won't prescribe — but the medical consensus has shifted significantly. The 2020 American Heart Association guidance no longer caps daily egg intake for most adults. The Indian Council of Medical Research similarly endorses 2 eggs/day for healthy adults. For people with familial hypercholesterolaemia or specific cardiac conditions, consult your physician for personalised guidance.
Eggs in general have a glycaemic index of 0 (no impact on blood sugar) and are widely recommended in diabetic-friendly diets. The advantage of our Omega Reserve specifically is the higher Omega-3 content, which several studies link to improved insulin sensitivity and reduced inflammatory markers in Type 2 diabetics. As always, work with your endocrinologist for personalised diet plans.
In the refrigerator (4–8°C), in the original carton, with the pointed end down. The original carton helps maintain humidity and protects against odour absorption from other foods. Don't wash eggs before storing (washing removes the protective bloom). Stored properly, our eggs stay fresh for 21–28 days from the lay date printed on the carton.
Three quick tests. (1) The float test: place in a glass of water — fresh sinks flat, slightly old stands upright but submerged, bad floats. (2) The smell test: crack into a bowl — fresh has no strong smell, bad smells distinctly sulfurous. (3) The visual test: yolk should be domed and yellow-orange, white should be cohesive. Trust your senses; eggs that smell off should be discarded.
